Lessons For Children
What do you learn in lessons?
Courante Music believes in finding joy in music. Children learn the foundational skills of music - how to listen and understand what they hear, read and write musical notation, develop the technical skills needed create a proper sound, and how to play musically with expression.
There is lots of laughter and fun in the process. But serious work is being done here! Lessons learned in music cross-over to other academic pursuits and create success. Children learn how to concentrate and apply focus to new and foreign tasks. They learn how short term goals lead to long term accomplishment. By learning to break a complicated task down into manageable bits, they gain confidence in their ability to learn new things. The strategies they learn in music help in future tasks. Music feeds the child’s brain.
Piano lessons help children develop a growth mindset. Children learn that they can grow their skills and abilities. They do not think their skills and abilities are fixed. They learn they can accomplish their goals by adjusting strategies. When we adopt a growth mindset, we stick with things longer and we perform better. We know our hard work will pay off. We enjoy things more. This learning mindset helps us navigate the challenges of life.
